About Cubical Golfer
Independent Golf Gear Reviews — by Weekend Golfers
Cubical Golfer exists because most gear advice online is written for the wrong golfer — or by someone who has never actually paid for the product they are recommending. We fix that by buying everything ourselves and playing with it properly before saying a word.
Who This Site Is For
The golfer who plays on weekends, maybe squeezes in a twilight round after work when the season allows, and takes their handicap seriously even if nobody else does. You are not a scratch golfer and you are not buying a new driver every season, but you care about playing better and you want to spend your gear budget on things that will actually move the needle.
If you have ever stood on an approach shot and had no idea what club to hit because you were guessing the yardage, a rangefinder review on this site will tell you exactly which model to buy and why. If you have lost count of how many "best golf balls" articles you have read that say nothing about your swing speed or handicap, our ball guides are written specifically for the 12–24 handicap range.
We cover rangefinders, GPS watches, golf balls, drivers and irons, putters, training aids, golf bags, gloves, and shoes. Every category has a buying guide built on actual rounds played, not manufacturer spec sheets.

- 📊 49+ guides published, reviewed and updated quarterly
How We Test Gear Full methodology →
Real Rounds, Not Demo Days
Every product is played with on an actual golf course, in normal playing conditions, for a minimum of 10 rounds before we write anything. A rangefinder that reads perfectly in a parking lot is not the same as one you can aim confidently at a flag tucked left on a par three with trees behind it.
Our Own Money
Every product we recommend was bought at full retail price. We do not accept manufacturer samples, review units, or loaner gear. There are no products on this site that cost us nothing — which means there are no products here we felt obligated to say nice things about.
Written for the 12–24 Handicapper
Our reviews are written for golfers who play in the 80s and 90s, have a real equipment budget, and want to know what actually helps — not what looks good on a spec sheet. We deliberately do not review gear we would never buy ourselves, which cuts out a long tail of products that are popular but not genuinely useful.
Updated When It Matters
Guides are reviewed quarterly. When a newer model makes our current pick obsolete, the recommendation changes — we do not keep stale picks because they drive traffic. Every article shows the date it was last reviewed, not just the date it was first published.
Editorial Independence & Affiliate Disclosure
Cubical Golfer earns affiliate commissions through Amazon Associates and the Bushnell affiliate programme via Impact. If you click a link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This is how the site covers its costs.
Affiliate income does not influence which products we recommend or where they rank. We have turned down paid placement requests. We have recommended lower-commission products over higher-commission alternatives because they were the better choice. If a product has a problem, we say so in the review.
No manufacturer has advance sight of any article before it is published. No brand relationship has editorial influence over this site. Recommendations are based entirely on what performed best during testing.
